2¢ On Why It's Better to Give a Penny Than Take a Penny
(or Why YOUR Contributions Matter!!)
Miracles happen every day. We know because we've seen them...
and sometimes we help create 'em! The Penny Project is dedicated to doing good one penny at a time!! At the end of our 4th year collecting pennies (2010) we've collected over $1,850 in found money & small hand fulls of pocket change. We operate on the principle that we're happy to gather up the "money you won't miss." Whether it's a nickel you found on the bus floor or a chunk of a tax refund you weren't expecting, we'll take it and pool it with the other small amounts to make a BIG impact in someone's life. Below are a list of the ways we've found so far to turn money you won't miss into miracles! We're ALWAYS open to your ideas on other individuals or organizations that need a little help. What do ya say...are you ready to buy a little good karma or help ¢hange the world for someone? |

Direct Instruction Entrepreneurial Academy
Direct Instruction Entrepreneurial Academy (DI-EA) will educate students during the years when young children are seeking answers to fundamental questions of life and are deciding on values & standards which will largely determine their behavior in the future. Their physical, emotional, & intellectual needs are woven together to determine their success in the future. They recognize that young children are going through the most critical times of their lives. Therefore, it is their plan to meet the educational needs of each student & provide them with the necessary tools to succeed in the 21st Century.
DI-EA's core values (we just loved these too much not to support them!):

The American Red Cross
In Q1 2011, we held the "Every Penny Matters: Give a Little for BIG Impact in Japan" drive. All donated money from Jan-March went to the victims of Japan's natural disasters.
Although the disasters were on a large scale and we saw footage of the massive destruction on the news, it was the individuals & their stories we actually supported with our gifts. The mother who lost a child. The husband who was waiting for news if his wife is dead or alive. The young child in a cloud of confusion who just wanted a hug from daddy. THESE are the souls we touched with every penny or dollar.
We encouraged our penny friends to join us by spending a minute thinking positive, healing thoughts for those who need it most if giving money wasn't possible. That too is a gift that has power beyond measure when we all take time to do it. We truly appreciate everyone's efforts to help our neighbors in Japan...whether it was a kind thought, a penny, a buck or a crisp $100 bill!! Thanks to your generous donations, we were able to donate $256.31 to the American Red Cross in support of their relief efforts. One penny at a time, we are making a difference in the world!!

Young Women's National Conference
The Young Women's National Conference (YWNC) was founded out of the passion of one young woman's quest to help others. Her drive, dedication, and above all HEART brought together an impressive array of volunteers & created an environment where teen girls could grow, explore & learn!
The event equips young women (age 14-17) with tools to become more confident & the courage to embrace their leadership potential by connecting them with women leaders who share their life stories. Speakers, & mentors inspire them to act on their visions to positively affect their lives & advocate positive change in the world.
